Ahhh. Comic book love. That is the wedding of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. She is also known as Jewel, and they are both members of the New Avengers.
Obviously the love between Luke and Jessica has borne fruit. Their baby is Danielle, and she has often been the focal point for some serious drama in the Marvel Universe. This weekend at the New York Comic Con, Brian Michael Bendis made a major announcement that will alter comic book mythology forever. Danielle’s new nanny will be Squirrel Girl.
As you can see, this beautiful baby is in constant danger of being snatched by supervillains. Since Squirrel Girl has never been beaten, she makes the perfect sitter. The offspring of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage could not be in better hands.
Brian Michael Bendis admitted this weekend that he has “written his Squirrel Girl issue”. What does that mean for Doreen Green? That remains to be seen. Bendis is a serious writer who delves deeply into the dark side of superheroes, and Squirrel Girl thrives in the light. She has never been featured in a mainstream Marvel title, and she has never been anything short of whimsical. The future of Squirrel Girl is about to change drastically, thanks to the cute little spawn of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.
Very exciting times.
